A former member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Friday forwarded something of a warning to his one-time employers.
This, of course, comes ahead of a crunch outing for the Blaugrana tomorrow night.
Barcelona are primed to make the trip to Seville on Saturday, for a showdown with arch rivals Real Madrid.
Silverware is on the line in the latest edition of El Clásico, with Spanish football’s two bigges clubs set to lock horns over the Copa del Rey title.
It is Hansi Flick’s Barca who head into the matchup boasting favourite status, having dominated Carlo Ancelotti’s Blancos across the season to date.
One individual, though, adamant that the Blaugrana should not get ahead of themselves en route to La Cartuja is Víctor Valdés.
Speaking to the media on Friday, ex-Barcelona shot-stopper Valdés was drawn on his former club being widely labelled as favourites in El Clásico.
And the Spaniard, as per Mundo Deportivo, made use of the opportunity to warn Hansi Flick’s squad:
“In a final against Real Madrid, you can never talk about favorites…”
Valdés went on to add that Los Blancos are a “great team” with “great stars,” adamant that they “never give up and are never dead, especially in a final.”
