Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel slammed duo Robert Sanchez and Nicolas Jackson and says they are not good enough to win the club the Premier League.
Mikel spent 11 years at Chelsea, winning two Premier League titles and the Champions League as well as four FA Cups and two League Cups in a successful spell in west London.
The current Blues side have seen their form tail off since December and were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City on Saturday.
And speaking on the Obi One podcast, the 37-year-old singled out the two Chelsea players who he believes are not good enough to win them the Premier League.
“No, he’s not. He’s not a top, top keeper,” Mikel said when asked about Sanchez, who was caught off his line for Erling Haaland’s goal.
“What I keep saying is (we need) players who will win the league. Win the league, and put us in the top four. He’s not that goalkeeper.
“And Nicolas is not that striker who will get us to win the league. Top four, they might get us there. But to win the league, to put us where we belong, they are not those people.”
Sanchez has made the joint most errors leading to goals in the Premier League this season with five, according to Premier League stats, and Mikel says Chelsea must invest in a new goalkeeper.
“For me, he’s shown that again, Sanchez, with that mistake,” he continued. “What are you doing rushing out? What are you doing?
“If you call Petr Cech now, off the cuff, privately, he’ll tell you the same thing.
“But I’m the only one whose coming out to say it, you know what I mean?
“I understand that my colleagues don’t want to come out and say it but I’m saying it. This is what we need. We need to get another top striker and a goalkeeper.
“And again, Sanchez has shown that he’s not that keeper that is going to get us to win the league.”
