Fowler strikes as Australia seal back-to-back wins over South Korea

Mary Fowler was on target to help Australia defeat South Korea 2-0 in a friendly international played in Newcastle.

The City forward struck on 43 minutes to open the scoring for the Matildas, Fowler executing a smart finish from 10 yards out after latching onto Emily van Egbond’s inviting through ball.

And Fowler was instrumental in helping set up Australia’s second goal midway through the second half, her teasing cross sparking panic in the South Korean defence.

Though Caitlin Foord saw a series of initial close-range efforts blocked, fellow substitute Kaitlyn Torpey made no mistake with the follow-up.

The goal helped set the seal on what was a second victory over South Korea in four days for Australia.
