As reported by Daily Mail the Frenchman is a target for former Celtic boss Ronny Deila’s new club with Edouard unable to move to another European club this January due to FIFA’s two-club rule.
The ex-Celtic forward has played for both Crystal Palace and Leicester City in the English Premier League this campaign ruling out Edouard being eligible to play for another team in any European league, as per FIFA regulations. However, with MLS rules being slightly different, Edouard can make the permanent switch to the States this month.
Odsonne Edouard was adored by the Celtic support. What a song he had!
Scoring 86 goals in 179 appearances during a successful three-year spell in Glasgow’s East End, the 27 year-old talisman is hailed as a modern-day great at the Hoops. However, his £18m move to Crystal Palace has proven to be underwhelming subsequently leading to Edouard wanting to seek new opportunities.

Meanwhile, Atlanta United have cooled their interest in Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi. MailSport columnist Stephen McGowan stated on Tuesday that the reason for this is, “Kyogo is less keen to commit to Atlanta United than Atlanta United are to commit to him.” However, within McGowan’s piece it outlines that the Japanese forward still has intentions of moving on from Celtic in pursuit of one last big pay day.
Hence the reason why the MLS club have moved on from Kyogo to other targets. Whether this has any impact on the departure of 30 year-old remains to be seen. It’s worthwhile keeping an eye on Rennes and whether they firm up their interest in Kyogo with a suitable bid.
