Matteo Gabbia spoke to the club’s official channel after the 3-1 win against Bologna, explaining how it helps boost AC Milan’s confidence. He also praised Santiago Gimenez, who bagged a brace.
Gabbia made his fifth consecutive start in the league last night and once again, it was a solid display from the academy product. He has certainly found his role in the three-man backline, but the biggest test is still to come.
Speaking to MilanTV after the win, Gabbia shared his thoughts on the back-to-back clashes against Bologna and what it means for the final. He also praised Gimenez for always working very hard, finally getting the reward on the pitch.
On the game…
“We have to take the confidence from this game, they have beaten pretty much everyone. So we need to be confident about the game to come, and be aware that today’s result helps us build form after the run we have been on.”
On the back-to-back games against Bologna…
“It does give us some clues about Bologna’s players, but the same goes for them too. I think it will be a different kind of game. It’s a final, a completely different game. Today, it was important for us to build form in the league. We are coming up against tough opponents, so we are pleased to have taken all three points.”
On Gimenez’s display off the bench…
“The main thing is that it has given Santi confidence. I’m happy for him because he’s a great guy who works so hard. I’m happy when our forwards score, because it’s their biggest desire. They always help the team so much and they are right to be pleased when they score. From tomorrow, everyone will be focused on the final.”
