Gerard Piqué labels Real Madrid star ‘a future Ballon d’Or winner’ | OneFootball

Barcelona legend Gerard Piqué has on Tuesday tipped Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. to one day realise his dream of lifting the Ballon d’Or.

Wide-man Vinícius, of course, was pipped to the post in the race for the most recent ‘Golden Ball’.

Despite the Brazilian having been considered the widespread favourite to lift the prize, it ultimately went the way of Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

The result left a bitter taste in the mouths of all associated with Real Madrid, with the Spanish champions having ultimately made the call to boycott the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Vinícius himself is understood to have been hit hard by his last-minute snub, too.

One individual, though, of the opinion that the 24-year-old, when all is said and done, will lift the Ballon d’Or, is the aforementioned Gerard Piqué.

Speaking in an interview with Marca this week, Vinícius’ name was put to the ex-Barcelona defender.

And Piqué showed little hesitation in responding simply with:

‘A future Ballon d’Or winner.’
