Grace Clinton sparkles again for England Women in 1-1 draw with Portugal

Numerous Manchester United Women were in action on a busy night of Nations League matches.
Ella Toone and Grace Clinton both started for England as they drew 1-1 with Portugal in the Estádio Municipal de Portimão.
Toone played all 90 minutes and had a passing accuracy of 89%. She also made two key passes during the game. She also had one shot on target and one off target as she tried to find England’s second of the match. United’s number seven was also heavily involved in a defensive way as she won five ground duels.
Clinton played 84 minutes of the game before being subbed off and had an incredible 96% pass accuracy, making 45 out of her 47 pass attempts. She had one key pass and one shot on goal.
The 21 year old completed three out of four dribble attempts and won eight ground duels during the match in an all-action midfield showing.
Aoife Mannion also played the entire 90 minutes as centre back in the Republic of Ireland’s 1-0 victory over Turkiye. The 29 year old made one clearance, one tackle, one blocked shot and one interception.
Mannion won two out of her three ground duels but only 25% of her ground battles. She also had 79 touches of the ball and completed 72% of her passes.
United attackers Melvine Malard and Elisabeth Terland were both involved for their respective countries in France’s narrow 1-0 victory over Norway.
Malard started the game for the French and was subbed off after 59 minutes. She had one shot off target and 29 touches of the ball. She made one key pass and had a passing accuracy of 72%. She only won 20% of her aerial battles and ground duels, however.
Terland was named on the bench for Norway and played the final 19 minutes of the match. She made little to no impact on the contest, failing to complete a pass and only had three touches of the ball.
Finally, Dominique Janssen played the last 19 minutes of the match for the Netherlands versus Germany. She made one interception and lost her only ground duel. The Dutchwoman also had 17 touches and completed 80% of her passes in a 2-2 draw.
All in all, a successful night on international duty for United’s women team.
