Earlier today, the RFEF and La Liga confirmed that the postponed league game between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna will take place on March 27.

The match, initially scheduled to take place on March 8, had to be suspended following the sudden passing of Barcelona’s first-team doctor Carles Minarro Garcia hours before kickoff.

Both Barcelona and Osasuna are unhappy with the decision to play the match on March 27 and are appealing against the new date for the game.

Now, MARCA reports that Hansi Flick found out about the new date for Barcelona’s postponed match against Osasuna while overseeing a training session at the club’s training ground.

With most first-team players away on international duty, the German coach was working with a mix of academy and reserve team players when he received the news.

The Barcelona manager’s frustration was immediate after he learned that March 27, the Thursday following the international break, was set as the match date.

The report further states that Flick was baffled about how the RFEF could schedule a game knowing that Barcelona would be without key players like Raphinha and Ronald Araujo, both playing for their national teams in Bolivia and Argentina.

In addition, three more Barcelona players would be involved in the Spain U21 match on 25 March, further weakening the squad.

For someone trained in Germany, where planning and fairness are paramount, it was incomprehensible that a match could be scheduled without ensuring both teams had their full squads available.

Flick was left waiting for Barcelona’s legal appeal, which the club intends to file in hopes of overturning the decision.

Despite their frustration, Barcelona are not optimistic about a favourable ruling for their appeal, given that their concerns were already ignored once.
