The past month has been tumultuous for Hansi Flick at Barcelona, especially from a player rotation standpoint.

The hectic schedule sees the Catalans play a game virtually every three days and it is unsustainable to go through months of football at end without regularly shuffling the deck.

Injuries to Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Frenkie de Jong and Dani Olmo, however, left Flick with limited options in midfield. While he did well to ensure maximum wins despite the setback, it hit him hard when he had no options to rotate against Osasuna.

4 player boost

With the 3-0 win over Alaves in the bag, Barcelona now head into the international break clearly in first place in La Liga and also having recovered ground in the UEFA Champions League.

After the hiatus, however, they are set to take on Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the two competitions respectively and will thus need to be at their very best.

For the hectic fixtures set for later this month, however, Flick will have a four-player boost with all of them set to return to action in the first game after the break against Sevilla.

Dani Olmo who made an explosive start to life in Barcelona is expected to return in limited capacity against Sevilla and is eyeing a complete return for the game against Bayern Munich. Needless to say, this comes as a massive boost for Hansi Flick’s plans.

Competing for the same position, Fermin Lopez is close to returning to action and will make his comeback from injury against Sevilla. The attacking midfield position, thus, is well covered.

The biggest headlining news, however, is on Gavi who is finally set to make his long-awaited return to the field after his ACL injury last season.

The youngster will bring a different personality to the team on the field and is perhaps the single biggest difference-maker Flick can hope to have back in his dynamics.

The fourth and final player boost that the manager is set to receive is Wojciech Szczesny. With two more weeks of work under his belt, the Polish goalkeeper will likely return to top shape and can displace Inaki Pena as a more reliable option in goal.
