Barcelona’s draw against Real Betis was a tough blow. It was not the first time the team had dropped points at home this season, but it came against a strong opponent on a hot streak.
Manuel Pellegrini’s team played a good match, managing to neutralise much of Barcelona’s attacking threat.
The result was particularly disappointing because it was a missed opportunity to gain significant ground on Real Madrid, who had lost to Valencia.
However, according to MARCA, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick chose to highlight the positives immediately after the match.
His message: there is one less match to play and Barcelona now hold a slightly larger lead. This was the message he shared both publicly in the press conference and privately in the dressing room.
The German tactician is determined not to let the morale in the dressing room dip. In the end, despite the frustration, Barcelona extended their advantage over Real Madrid.

Flick wants his team to forget the Real Betis match and fully focus on Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund. With the treble still within reach, this is the time to push forward in Europe.
While the Copa del Rey and La Liga are on track, a slip-up at home against the German side would represent a major setback, especially on a psychological level.
Keeping spirits high is now Flick’s top priority. The draw on Saturday certainly did not help, especially as expectations had been sky-high beforehand.
Flick also had to defuse the tension after some players, particularly Raphinha, ended the game visibly angry with referee Gil Manzano.
The frustration in the squad was intense, although it had more to do with the result than the referee’s decisions. As such, Flick and his staff’s full effort is now geared towards preparing the team for the Champions League and ensuring the players are focused on that.
