Hibernian Women beat leaders, Rangers and Celtic also gain ground

Hibernian defeated Glasgow City as Rangers and Celtic also closed in on the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League leaders.

Aberdeen 3-0 Queen’s Park Montrose 0-4 Motherwell Partick Thistle 4-1 Dundee United Spartans 0-3 Rangers Hibernian 3-1 Glasgow City Celtic 4-0 Hearts

Hibernian won away to leaders Glasgow City to move with two points of them, as Ciara Grant deliveries brought three head goals. Kathleen McGovern got the first after only three minutes, Eilidh Adams doubling the lead before Brenna Lovera replied. McGovern completed the scoring just before the break.

Rangers are also just two points off the top but were held up for some time by ten-player Spartans. Kate Fraser was sent off, Katie Wilkinson grabbed a swift double and Jane Ross got the third.

Celtic beat Hearts 4-0 to take fourth place from them and sit three points behind the top team with a game in hand. Shannon McGregor,  Saoirse Noonan and Morgan Cross had them three up at the break, Natalie Ross scoring on the hour mark.

Partick Thistle defeated Dundee United with Rachel Donaldson, Imogen Longcake and Tiree Burchill on target plus an own-goal, Amy Taylor later getting a consolation.

Motherwell were 4-0 winners at Montrose, Louisa Boyes, Katie Rice and Laura Berry netting before the hosts’ Chelsie Watson was sent off. It was ten-a-side with Jade McLaren’s dismissal, after which Laura McCartney got the fourth goal.

Aberdeen defeated Queen’s Park 3-0, goals by Kerry Beattie, Hannah Stewart and Eva Thomson.

Hamilton extended their lead after their victory in the top of the table clash with Kilmarnock, Justine Strain scoring twice in the 5-2 result.

Gartcairn went third with all three goals at Livingston, St Johnstone saw off an Ayr United fightback to go sixth thanks to a crucial third goal from distance by Rachel Howie.
