Steph Houghton has returned to Manchester City and assumed the positions of Club Ambassador and a Project Officer.

The former City captain retired from playing at the end of the 2023/24 season after over a decade of service to the Blues where she guided the team to eight major trophies - including the 2016 Barclays Women’s Super League title.

First, in her new role of Ambassador she will join the likes of Club legends Mike Summerbee, Joleon Lescott and Shaun Wright-Phillips and act on behalf of the Club at various matches and events around the world – which included the recent Ballon d’Or ceremony in October.

This will also see Houghton break new ground again as she becomes the first-ever female to become an official representative of Manchester City.

Secondly, as a Project Officer, she will liaise and gain valuable experience with various footballing departments at the City Football Academy – beginning with the Insights Team.

On Houghton’s new roles, Managing Director Chalotte O'Neill said: "The legacy continues. We are delighted that Steph's impact will continue here at Manchester City as Project Officer and through her historic ambassadorial role. "This newest chapter for Steph reflects our ambition to provide the best environment for personal development on and off the pitch, and I am very much looking forward to seeing her flourish."
