Ederson is looking forward to providing even more assists after the goalkeeper claimed his sixth in the Premier League, setting a new record in the competition.

The Brazilian played a pivotal role in our first goal in the 4-0 victory over Newcastle, lofting the ball forward into the path of Omar Marmoush, who lobbed us ahead.

Marmoush swiftly added two more goals to complete a first-half hat-trick, before James McAtee tapped in a late fourth.

Ederson has overtaken Paul Robinson as the goalkeeper with the most assists in the Premier League with six, and has registered three in this campaign alone, setting another record in the process.

"I’m happy to make this mark. I hope there is more to come," said Ederson in an interview after the game.

"It’s a difficult team to play against because they mark man to man. I see the space, because they go man for man, the player free is the goalkeeper.

"Up front they’re man for man and we have good fast players, Savinho, Marmoush and Erling, so it’s easy, I just put the ball there.

RECORD BREAKER: Ederson celebrates Marmoush's opener.

"Honestly, no," said the goalkeeper when asked if the team have worked on the long ball routine in training.

"We’ve not trained it too much because I’ve had a little problem in my groin. It’s normal.

"I remember in my first two seasons here I trained it a lot. It’s natural now. I see the movement and the ball comes to me, and I play it into the space."

The shot-stopper has provided for the likes of Sergio Aguero and Erling Haaland, and Marmoush was proud to be the one to help Ederson break the record and enter the history books.

"He's a brilliant goalkeeper and I'm very happy to be part of his history," said Marmoush.

"It's an honour for me. It's a trademark I would say, these runs and him playing the ball. So I'm really happy we could do that."
