Inter Miami vs. Orlando City projected lineups

Striker Luis Suarez should return to the lineup after missing the last two matches. Lionel Messi is also healthy, and when Messi and Suarez start together, it's been mostly in a 4-4-2 this season.

Meanwhile, Martin Ojeda has emerged as a genuine MVP candidate for the Lions, who are unbeaten in 11 overall and 10 in the league. Playing with the lead in Wednesday night's 3-1 win over Charlotte FC allowed manager Oscar Pareja to spell Marco Pasalic and Luis Muriel before the 75th minute, perhaps lessening the possibility of heavy squad rotation in a third game in nine days.

Pareja has tinkered with formations, but he may be tempted to employ a 5-4-1 for a second consecutive match against a Miami side that has struggled against a low block this season.

Inter Miami potential lineup (4-4-2, right to left)

Oscar Ustari (GK) - Marcelo Weigandt, Maxi Falcon, Noah Allen, Jordi Alba - Benjamin Cremaschi, Yannick Bright, Sergio Busquets, Tadeo Allende - Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez

Orlando City potential lineup (5-4-1, right to left)

Pedro Gallese (GK) - Alex Freeman, Rodrigo Schlegel, Robin Jansson, David Brekalo, Ivan Angulo - Marco Pasalic, Cesar Araujo, Joran Gerbet, Martin Ojeda - Luis Muriel

Player status report

Inter Miami: Drake Callender - sports hernia (out), Baltasar Rodriguez - hamstring (out), David Ruiz - hamstring (out). Orlando City: Eduard Atuesta - neck (out), Nico Rodríguez - thigh (out).

Inter Miami vs. Orlando City prediction

The growing frustration within Miami's ranks is becoming increasingly obvious, and with Apple TV's Sunday Night Soccer crew in town, this fixture feels like it will be a dam-breaking moment one way or another. That Orlando will probably also be willing to sit deep and counter plays into that logic as well.

But given how old so many key contributors in this Miami squad are, the lean here is that things won't get corrected until the Herons have a full week to regroup, with the quick turnaround for both sides favoring the visitors. The Lions become the latest team to pile on while the Herons are down, scoring early and then taking advantage of the game state to stretch their lead later on the counter.
