Inter Milan Captain’s Celebration Sums Up Sense Of Release After 1-0 Serie A Win Vs Genoa

A defiant, exuberant celebration by Lautaro Martinez summed up the sense of release for Inter Milan in their Serie A win over Genoa.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez broke the deadlock in yesterday’s Serie A clash with Genoa.
As has so often been the case in the last few years. The Argentine popped up when his team needed him most.
Martinez found the back of the net with a header from a Hakan Calhanoglu corner in the second half.
Martinez’s goal did not exactly feel as though it had been coming.
Inter had been pushing to break the deadlock, but they faced an organized Genoa defense, with the Grifone players sticking to their task well and putting their bodies on the line.

And there was a palpable sense of desperation for the goal from the Nerazzurri. Even if they just about kept their composure and patience.
Three points were all but necessary for Inter to bounce back from their Derby d’Italia loss to Juventus last weekend – the third match in which they’ve dropped points in February.
When the goal went in, there was therefore a real sense of relief from the Inter players. And release.
Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez embodied this as he rushed to celebrate with the fans.
The 27-year-old jumped over the balustrade at the San Siro to get close to the fans.
This may well have seemed like an excessive celebration considering the opposition.
However, in the context – the difficulty of the match, and the fact that Inter face title rivals Napoli next weekend – it was an understandable reaction.
