Marcus Thuram says that he realized Inter Milan had “done something special” when they celebrated the Serie A title with their fans last season.

The Frenchman looked back on the bus parade speaking to Cronache di Spogliatoio, via FCInterNews.

Inter Milan won the Serie A title last season.

And it was a memorable title triumph in a number of ways.

Firstly, there is the fact that the Nerazzurri had won the title in utterly dominant fashion. They did so by a margin of nearly twenty points at the top of the table.

Then, there was the fact that Inter had managed to clinch the title with a victory in the derby against AC Milan.

And most significantly of all, last season’s title victory was the twentieth in Inter’s history. That meant that they were able to put the second star on their chests.

Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram helped the Nerazzurri to the title in his very first season at the club.

And this gave the Frenchman the opportunity to enjoy a huge party.

At the end of the campaign, Inter celebrated the title in a massive open top bus parade through the city of Milan with their fans.

Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram looked back, “When I close my eyes, I can think of the Piazza Duomo.”

The 27-year-old admitted that “it’s the most beautiful sight.”

“We got their tired after seventeen hours on the bus around Milan.”

“I saw the Duomo full,” Thuram recalled. “And I said: ‘Ok, we’ve done something special.'”

Meanwhile, Thuram, gave his thoughts on what it meant to clinch the title in the derby against Milan.

“We didn’t win the Scudetto only in the derby,” he said. “But because of the entire season.”

“With that goal we killed off the match,” Thuram said of his goal in the derby last April. “But it wasn’t just because of that that we want the Scudetto.”

“Without the previous wins, we wouldn’t be talking about it.”
