Legendary former Inter Milan captain Beppe Bergomi is not too concerned after the Nerazzurri’s Serie A draw against Bologna yesterday.
Bergomi reacted to the 2-2 draw on Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. He emphasized that Inter “can’t win every game.”
Inter dropped points in Serie A for the first time in more than two months yesterday.
The Nerazzurri fell behind to Bologna early in the first half of yesterday’s match. But then, they came back to go in 2-1 up at the half.
However, in the second half Inter conceded an equalizer. And neither side were able to score a winner in a match that became very stretched.
Inter’s draw yesterday was their first real slip-up in the Serie A title since November.
In failing to win, the Nerazzurri were not able to put pressure on Napoli and Atalanta at the top of the table.
Inter are now three points behind the Partenopei, and just one ahead of La Dea. They do, however, have a game in hand on both.
Yesterday’s draw recalled early-season stalemates against the likes of Genoa and Monza, if not the wild 4-4 draw against Juventus in October.
This is hardly a welcome sign for Inter. They’ll have been hoping that their winning run from recent weeks would have seen them start to replicate last campaign’s ruthless form.
However, former Inter captain Bergomi is not stressing too much about yesterday’s result.
He said of Inter’s performance that “Bologna force you to play that kind of match.”
“With their intensity, they can cause problems for anyone.”
“Inter did well to come from behind from the early deficit. But they shouldn’t have slipped up in the second half the way they did.”
But Bergomi argued that it was “a result that Inter have to accept.”
“You can’t always win,” the 1982 World Cup winner observed. “Especially when you’re playing every three days.”
“Bologna are in great form,” Bergomi said. “A draw against them is a result that you can accept.”
