David Raya insists Arsenal are not interested in any talk of a Real Madrid ‘remontada’ and are only concentrating on their own performance.

Arsenal go into their Champions League quarter-final second leg with Real Madrid 3-0 ahead after their first-leg win at the Emirates.

But with Real Madrid’s history of coming from behind in the competition, there has been plenty of noise and confidence from those associated with the Spanish giants that progression to the semi-finals might still be possible.

Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is among those to have backed the reigning champions to pull off a “special night” but Raya says Arsenal have not paid any attention to those sort of comments.

“I usually don’t read the press,” he said. “In the end, they are trying to make the best for themselves for the club and for the game they want to play.

“It’s valid. They need to trust in themselves and that’s what we do. We need to trust in ourselves, play our game and that’s it.

“We know how big of a club it is and it would be great to knock them out.

“We have the momentum, the way we played in the first leg was incredible from everyone and we’re here just to create our own history, to come here and win the game and that’s the most important thing.

“You try to be focused on what you can control. You can control your actions, on what you do. You cannot control the outside and the noise and all that.

“You have to be very, very focused on what you can do and believe in yourself. That’s the most important thing.”

It is bound to be a noisy atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabeu for the second-leg clash but Raya reiterated that the focus is only on what his own side can do.

“That’s something that we cannot control,” he said about the atmosphere. “That is out of our control. The fans, the stadium, the atmosphere, maybe the shows that they have in the stadium and all that

“That is not in our control so we cannot think about all that. We just have to think about ourselves, what we can control on the pitch with the ball, play the same way we played in the first game, create chances and score goals.

“We’re here just to create our own history.”
