Davide Frattesi is set to start for Inter Milan against Lecce in Serie A this weekend, sending a clear message to Roma.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Frattesi is a player whose situation at Inter has been in the spotlight in January.
Reportedly, the 25-year-old is unhappy with his relative lack of playing time at the Nerazzurri. He wants a move to a club where he’ll feature more.
Reports indicate that Frattesi wants to join Roma.
And for their part, the Giallorossi are keen to take advantage and sign Frattesi.
The transfer saga between Frattesi and Roma has rumbled on all month.
However, for their part Inter have made their stance quite clear. They would want a fee of around €45 million to sell Frattesi in January.
Therefore, the 25-year-old hasn’t gone anywhere.
Roma are still interested in signing Frattesi. However, if Inter don’t lower the asking price or accept a player-plus-cash bid then it would be hard to see them landing the former Sassuolo midfielder.
And in the meantime, Tuttosport reports, Frattesi is set to start for Inter against Lecce this weekend.
That would certainly send a big message.
Firstly, Frattesi is not out of the project by any means, even if he is not first-choice.
Then, Inter would be making it all the clearer that they are not planning for Frattesi’s exit in the last week of the January transfer window.
