Mr Haddock here, the London based Nottingham Forest fan.

A good friend introduced me to The Mag and I have read some really good articles on it.

Many of you may have noticed that a certain contributor’s articles nearly always have a dig at Forest, in some shape or form.

What brought me to write this article, was the fact that our clubs have a lot in common at the moment with PSR and the enforced horse-trading, but also there is a bit of history between us.

I recently saw a graphic on the BBC Sport website that gives the percentage likelihood of teams making Champions League – it put you lot at 44.6% and making 5th, while it gives Forest at 33.6%, making 6th.

I’m of course going to plant my flag and say I reckon we can do you at St James’ Park, as we’ve got Woody and your Geordie Maradona, Elliot Anderson – both have been fantastic for us, whereas you’ve got Odysseas Vlachodimos, somewhere.

You’ve got a distracting two legged cup semi and despite your despotic bottomless pit of wealth, you’re going to have to flog Bruno to Man City, Isak to Arsenal and Betfred wants to go home to Italy (the Wetherspoons gag has backfired now).

Talking of shared players.

James Perch (I’m expecting fish puns in the comments, don’t disappoint please) has just retired after playing for Ilkeston Town. Now Perch is a good example of how far we’ve both come in the last decade or so. He was our only sellable player/prospect, that’s how rubbish we were back then and you bought him!

There’s a good list of players between us. Actually this reflects our shared industrial past. When you had pits and work you attracted folk to Newcastle.

Folk like Stuart Pearce, Jermaine Jenas, Karl Darlow, Jamaal Lascelles, and the legendary James Perch. Andrew Cole was from Nottingham (miserable sod, that’s what happens when you move to Newcastle too young).

However, times change and like when Nottingham still had viable pits and jobs (who mentioned scabs???), you lot came down in numbers and even settled here, chasing our nurses and hosiery workers – just like Frank Clark.

We enjoyed the ginger Pirlo who helped us get promotion and hated that Shelvey lad (reckon you might have taken Odysseas  off us out of guilt over Shelvey).

Now we have Woody and the Midland Messi, who can learn his craft playing alongside our Yates.

The League Cup will do to you what Champions League did to you last season and ‘Notts’ Forest will be on the pi.. with Nuno in Europe.
