Juventus Losing Ground in Race for Feyenoord Defender

Juventus have tried to sign David Hancko a couple of times in the past and especially last January when they needed men in the back. While they couldn’t convince Feyenoord to do the deal, they are believed to have gained an inside track for the future. On the other hand, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the center-back will indeed join them, Fabrizio Romano informs (via Tribuna).
The Dutch team and the center-back are evaluating the future. He could indeed depart in a few months. However, at this stage, the three parties haven’t reached an agreement on the fee or his personal terms. The negotiation is stalling currently.
Hancko is under contract with Feyenoord until 2028, so his present team has the leverage to set whichever price tag it wants for Juventus and his other suitors. Atletico Madrid insistently tracked him in the past as well.
According to Nicolò Schira, Bayer Leverkusen have begun mulling going after him too. The Old Lady continues to have him at the top of their defensive wish list.
The Santiago Gimenez deal with Milan eventually proved that it was just a matter of money and the player’s conviction about transferring rather than a firm stance by Feyenoord about not losing linchpins in January. The Bianconeri evidently didn’t have that much to spend, and he didn’t push to leave as hard as his teammate did.
Only Bosman additions usually come together so much in advance. Their plans are inevitably on hold now following the coaching change. Still, a top-tier defender, especially a lefty, would be even more of a priority if they continued with a three-man line.
