Igor Tudor began his reign as Juventus manager by edging past Genoa in front of a cautiously optimistic crowd at the Allianz Stadium. The Bianconeri were the better side from start to finish, but Kenan Yildiz was the only one who managed to put his name on the scoresheet. The teenager’s wonderful first-half strike was enough to grant his new manager three valuable points on his dugout debut. So here are our player ratings for Juventus who are hoping to open a fresh new chapter following their 1-0 victory over Genoa.

Juventus (3-4-2-1)

Michele Di Gregorio – 6

The Juventus goalkeeper didn’t have an awful lot to do, but always looked alert to the danger. Produced a couple of decent stops to deny Morten Frendrup.

Federico Gatti – 6.5

The Italy international committed the ultimate sacrifice for the cause as he got himself injured by covering for Veiga. Andrea Pinamonti’s kick left him in great agony, so he eventually succumbed to his fate, leaving his place for Kalulu.

Renato Veiga – 6.5

Aside from the aforementioned scare against Pinamonti, the Chelsea loanee looked confident and composed at the heart of the three-man defence. Did well when distributing from the back.

Lloyd Kelly – 6.5

The Englishman never put a foot wrong throughout the contest, which is probably why he went under the radar.

Nicolas Gonzalez – 6.5

A vibrant showing from the Argentine who played as a right wingback, a role that suits him well, at least based on this evidence. He made dangerous runs and worked his socks off in the defensive phase.

Manuel Locatelli – 6

A mixed bag from the Juventus captain who made some good interventions, but fumbled a few plays.

Khephren Thuram – 7.5

A spectacular showing from the French midfielder in front of his father, Lilian, who was watching from the stands. Bossed the middle of the park as he retrieved possessions in dangerous areas and made terrific runs.

Weston McKennie – 7

The American is looking increasingly at home at wingback, as he completely dominated the left flank in his duel against Alessandro Zanoli.

Teun Koopmeiners – 6

The Dutchman showed some extra determination and connected well with his teammates, but he remains far from the vintage Koopmeiners

Kenan Yildiz – 8

An outstanding showing from the Juventus wonderkid who settled the encounter with a spectacular goal. He also threatened to score others and provided his teammates with good plays. Moreover, he showed fighting spirit when helping his teammates regain possession.

Dusan Vlahovic – 6

The Serbian won several physical duels, including the one that sparked the winner. However, he still needs to find his technical touch and clinical finish which have abondoned him a while ago.

Substitutes

Pierre Kalulu – 6.5

The Frenchman had a nervy moment against Pinamonti early in the second period, but looked solid overall. Picked up from where Gatti left off.

Francisco Conceicao – 6

The Porto loanee’s dribbling was on display once more, but at times lacked the final product.

Timothy Weah – 5.5

Should have done better to finish off Thuram’s last-minute run. His low drive was stopped by Leali.
