Monza coach Alessandro Nesta was reportedly impressed with Keita Balde’s trial training sessions, which persuaded the club to hand the former Inter and Cagliari forward a contract until June.
The Biancorossi currently sit at the bottom of Serie A and have the second-worst attack in the league, which is why they are desperate to bolster their attack, especially after losing Milan Djuric during the January transfer window.
Free agent Keita recently emerged as a potential option, with reports suggesting he would start training with the club to allow the newcomers to assess his condition and weigh up his signing.
Monza also underwent a coaching change in the last few days, bringing Nesta back to the bench to replace Salvatore Bocchetti. However, this didn’t stop the 29-year-old striker from continuing his trial at the club, impressing the former Milan centre-back.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Keita is set to sign a deal with Monza lasting until June 30, with the possibility of being called up by the Biancorossi manager for their upcoming Serie A clash against Lecce on Sunday.
The Senegalese attacker played his last season in Serie A for Cagliari, in 2021-2022, when he managed three goals from 26 appearances.
