Kyle Walker will spend time out of action after having surgery on his right elbow.
The Manchester City defender joined AC Milan on loan in January 2025 after an inconsistent first half of the season. The club have a €5 million option to buy.
Milan confirmed the 34-year-old had fractured his elbow and underwent surgery to repair the olecranon through osteosynthesis. They did not provide a timeline for Walker’s return.
Walker played 319 times for City, winning six Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League. He made his Milan debut against Inter Milan on February 2.
This injury is a blow to Milan, who sit ninth in Serie A after a poor domestic run this season.
However, they are still in the Coppa Italia and face Inter again in the semi-final second leg on April 23.
The first leg ended 1-1, with Walker starting and playing the match. Walker’s injury also affects Man City’s transfer plans for the summer.
Although he has another year on his deal, he had hinted at a possible return. “The chapter is not fully closed,” Walker said recently, leaving the door open to a comeback.
Walker is one of City’s older players, and he was expected to leave the club this summer. However, his injury makes a move uncertain, especially if his recovery is lengthy.
He made 12 appearances for Milan before the setback. He joins fellow right-back Emerson Royal on the sidelines.
Thomas Tuchel included Walker in his first England squad last month. He featured in wins over Albania and Latvia, earning his 94th and 95th international caps.
