Lucchese are facing yet another ultimatum in a turbulent season, and it is something that could have a bearing on Milan Futuro’s fate.
Calciomercato.com write that while Lucchese – coached by Gorgone – are giving it their all on the pitch to obtain survival with convincing results despite the six penalty points, issues away from the field could again bite them.
Milan Futuro are fighting to avoid direct relegation to Serie D (they are currently third-bottom) but they could get a hand from a team also nicknamed the Rossoneri. They might go bankrupt for a fourth time in the last 17 years, which would mean restarting from amateur levels again.
Today the auditor, Dr. Ahmed Liban Varetti, will have to decide whether to attempt a negotiation with the current owners, or hand over the books to the court, and thus put an end to what is seen by everyone in the city of Lucca as an agony without end.
In the event of a successful negotiation, the team will finish the season with a possible new points penalty if the April 16 deadline is not respected, as reported by La Nazione. The president of the club made himself available to Varetti to find a solution, yet the ownership group are missing.
The latest issue is utilities and more specifically outstanding expenses (electricity, water, logistical management of home games) that must be paid, and which are covered by a fundraiser by the fans.
Looking at the current standings in Group B of Serie C, a possible expulsion for Lucchese would favour Milan Futuro, who would certainly avoid direct relegation and would instead almost certainly join SPAL, Sestri Levante and Legnago Salus in the play-offs.
