SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA, MEXICO – Tigres UANL earned a 3-nil win against Real Estelí FC in the second leg of their Round One series, winning 3-1 on aggregate, as the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup continued on Wednesday at Estadio Universitario in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León, Mexico.Ozziel Herrera placed the hosts in the lead in the 2', striking the ball from the right edge of the box to cause the opening goal.

Herrera’s goal at 1:48 in the first half was the quickest goal for Tigres UANL in the Concacaf Champions Cup since at least 2018. The previous fastest in that time was by André-Pierre Gignac against Columbus Crew in 2024 (2:32).

Diego Lainez extended the Tigres lead in the 14' with a left-footed strike from the top of the box.

Juan Pablo Vigón secured the insurance goal in the 85' to seal the victory and the ticket to the next round. Two of the last three goals scored by substitutes for Tigres in the CCC were by Vigón.

Henry Niño attempted 52 passes, the most by a Real Estelí player in either leg of the series against Tigres. He also had two interceptions and three clearances.

Tigres UANL extended its home unbeaten streak in the Concacaf Champions Cup to eight games (6-2-0), with four clean sheets during that run.

This is the third time Tigres has overcome a loss in the first leg of a two-leg series in the CCC under the current format. The previous occasions were against Deportivo Saprissa (2019, 0-1 in the first leg, 5-1 in the second leg) and Alianza FC (2020, 1-2 in the first leg, 4-2 in the second leg).

With the victory, Tigres UANL advanced to the Round of 16 and awaits the winner of the series between FC Cincinnati and FC Motagua.
