Inter Milan will not take any risks with the fitness of Lautaro Martinez ahead of the Champions League final against PSG.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez has been dealing with some fitness issues in recent weeks.
The Argentine has played an enormous amount of football this season. And it has certainly caught up with him on a physical level.
Therefore, Martinez had to come off at halftime in the first leg of Inter’s Champions League semifinal against Barcelona.
This was not due to a serious injury. Rather, Martinez had suffered from some muscular fatigue.
Then, the Inter captain pushed to be available for the second leg against Barcelona.
And Martinez was able to start that match. However, he did not see out the full ninety minutes, as he was simply not able to on a physical level.

According to the Corriere, now Inter’s priority is to not take any risks with Martinez’s fitness in the next few weeks.
The Argentine certainly took a risk by playing against Barcelona on Tuesday. That reflected the importance of the match.
However, Martinez will hardly start Inter’s upcoming Serie A clash with Torino.
And in fact, reports the Corriere, Martinez is not likely to play much at all in Inter’s last three Serie A matches of the season.
The priority is to have the Argentine in peak condition for the end of the month. Inter face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, and that will be the main target.
