Leicester City might be best positioned to land Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei despite interest from several Serie A clubs, including Lazio.
The Biancocelesti are in the market for a new midfielder in January, preferably a young one who would be eligible for the U-22 list as the senior list is already filled. The club’s sporting director Angelo Fabiani has been following several profiles, including Hellas Verona’s Reda Belahyane and Empoli’s Jacobo Fazzini, while some believe Casadei would be the ideal addition to Marco Baroni’s squad.
The 21-year-old is considered among the most talented Italian youngsters, but he’s been starving for playing time at Stamford Bridge this season. The midfielder has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League, with his six outings occurring between the Conference League and the Carabao Cup.
However, ANSA believes Lazio, Bologna and Monza will struggle to land the Inter Milan youth product, as Chelsea are only willing to sell him for around £30 million, a figure that will likely ward off the Serie A trio. On the other hand, Leicester could have the means to invest in the Italy U21 starlet.
Casadei spent the first half of the previous campaign on loan with the Foxes where managed to showcase his prowess before being recalled by the Blues in January. So due to his previous success at King Power Stadium, Leicester could be tempted to sign him on a permanent basis, thus splashing their Italian competitors out of the water.
