Lazio are reportedly interested in Belgian defender Wout Faes who has been a stalwart at the back for Leicester City.
By all accounts, signing a new midfielder remains the top priority for the Biancocelesti in January. But while the management continues to pursue the likes of Jacopo Fazzini, Cesare Casadei and Reda Belahyane, they could also decide to lunge in for a new defender if the right opportunity presents itself. After all, three of the club’s four centre-backs are on the wrong side of 30.
So according to Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), the Aquile have enquired about Faes. The Italian newspaper reveals that the Foxes have been informed about the possibility of receiving an offer from Lazio who would like to sign the Belgium international on loan in January with an option to buy at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old started his career at Anderlecht and then embarked on various experiences between his home country and the Netherlands, before joining Ligue 1 side Stade Reims in 2020. After two years in France, he made the switch to Leicester for circa £15 million, and has been a stable at the East Midlands club ever since.
This season, Faes has made 20 appearances across all the competitions for the returning Premier League boys, scoring a couple of goals in the process. He is also a regular feature with the Belgian national team, with 25 international caps under his belt.
