Newcastle United are having a stunning season. We are very close to securing our Champions League spot. Now, we should be looking to add players who could strengthen our squad. Also, we cannot afford to sell our core players.
The likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Alexander Isak, and Anthony Gordon are getting the attention of European giants. So, we have to do everything to keep them at St. James' Park.
But, we have to admit, Newcastle have plenty of fringe players who will not get enough game time under Eddie Howe. Now, the challenge for Paul Mitchell would be to sell those fringe players.
Last year, we sold Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest which was a good deal for us. Now, we have to sell some of the remaining fringe players so that we get the funds to bring in quality players. And it looks like, Newcastle will have the opportunity to do so.
There is no doubt that Newcastle have probably the strongest midfield unit among all Premier League clubs. The midfield trio of Joelinton, Sandro Tonali, and Bruno Guimaraes is tearing the Premier League apart.
That is why players like Sean Longstaff are struggling to get game time at St. James' Park. So, if we get a club that is interested in signing such a player, we should be looking to get the deal over the line (of course, with a handsome fee).
The newly promoted side, Leeds United are showing interest in signing Sean Longstaff. The manager Daniel Farke is an admirer of the Newcastle midfielder due to his tenacity and intensity on the pitch. According to The i Paper, Leeds are serious about the deal.
Newcastle have the opportunity to offload Longstaff and get a good fee to fund their transfer budget for the summer. It is one opportunity that the Magpies cannot let go of. Sean Longstaff is a product of Newcastle academy.
