Arrigo Sacchi feels that Inter Milan are still feeling the effects of their Supercoppa Italiana loss against AC Milan.
The former Rossoneri coach gave his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s form to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908.
Inter did not get their 2025 off to the best of starts.
The Nerazzurri secured a fairly convincing win over Atalanta in the semifinal of the Supercoppa Italiana.
However, then in the final of the competition Inter surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose to city rivals AC Milan.
That result, and the manner in which it arrived, naturally took the wind out of Inter’s sails.
But Inter had to bounce back right away. They did so against Venezia, winning their first Serie A match of 2025.
But then a 2-2 draw against Bologna followed.
Therefore, there is a sense that Inter are still feeling a certain hangover from the Supercoppa. Particularly considering that they lost players like Hakan Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to injury in the wake of the competition.
Former Milan coach Sacchi said that “losing the Supercoppa the way that they did was a shot from a cannon for Inter.”
“The draw against Bologna at the San Siro was probably them still feeling the effects of that disappointment in Riyadh,” he went on.
“However, I still think Inter are the best team in Serie A,” Sacchi insisted.
“And I’m not just talking about the qualities of the players. But also Inzaghi, who’s a coach who’s grown a lot over the last few years.”
“As well as the club,” Sacchi said. “Who can rely on a great President in Marotta.”
“These are all elements that you can’t do without in a winning club that aims to have a long cycle over several years,” the former Milan coach went on.
“Of course, at the moment it’s delicate for them,” he noted. “Because while winning is hard, repeating it is even trickier.”
