Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was an essential figure in Germany’s 2014 World Cup-winning campaign, serving as the assistant to Joachim Löw.

The former Germany boss recently spoke about Flick in an interview with TV3, where he expressed great admiration for his former colleague.

He also shared his appreciation for Barcelona’s famous youth academy, La Masia, which has consistently produced top talents such as Lamine Yamal, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, Alejandro Balde, Pau Cubarsi, and Marc Casado.

Praise for La Masia

Löw stressed the importance of La Masia in developing young players, considering it a model that other clubs should learn from.

He encouraged coaches and clubs to visit Barcelona’s academy, observe its methods, and understand the philosophy behind their player development.

According to him, the way young footballers are trained at La Masia sets an example that others should follow.

“A piece of advice for many clubs and coaches: go to Barcelona for two weeks and visit the academy. Listen to what they do and why they do it,” he said.

Take on Flick

Speaking about Flick’s first season in charge at Barcelona, Löw highlighted his strong leadership skills and ability to connect with the squad.

He pointed out that Flick does not only focus on the team’s key players but also ensures that those who are not regular starters feel valued and involved.

“Hansi Flick also communicates with the players who are in the background, that is his strength, it is incredible,” he added.

Beyond Flick’s leadership, Löw also praised his tactical intelligence and deep understanding of football. He believes that Barcelona are benefiting from these qualities, which allow the team to be well-organised and adaptable on the pitch.

“He is very good at tactics and has a very deep knowledge of football,” he said.
