Real Sociedad 4-0 Real Betis

Real Sociedad produced a free-scoring display to sweep past Betis in Saturday’s home fixture. Amaiur Sarriegi headed home from Lucía Rodríguez’s inviting cross to give La Real a narrow half-time lead. Sarriegi doubled her side’s advantage within four minutes of the restart, demonstrating great composure to round the goalkeeper and slot home. Elene Guridi came off the bench to add a third, before Manuela Vanegas headed home from a corner to round off a successful outing for Real Sociedad.

Costa Adeje Tenerife 0-0 Levante

Levante may have had more possession, but Tenerife carried the greater threat in Saturday’s fixture. The hosts registered 11 shots during the contest, including four on target. However, they were unable to find a way through, ensuring they had to be content with a share of the spoils. The draw leaves Tenerife in seventh spot in Liga F, while the visitors are three points further back in 12th position.

Deportivo La Coruña 1-0 Madrid CFF

Deportivo clinched all three points thanks to Millene Cabral’s sensational 58th-minute strike. The Brazilian sent her fierce long-range shot in off the underside of the crossbar to register her first goal of the season. The newly-promoted side saw out the remainder of the contest to clinch their first Liga F win of the season. As for the visitors, they have now lost four consecutive matches since winning the first two games of the season.

Valencia 0-2 Granada

Valencia’s miserable start to the season continued with a fifth consecutive defeat. The encounter remained goalless until Lauri broke the deadlock in the 76th minute. The Granada forward met Laura Pérez’s cross to send her right-foot shot bouncing into the ground and past Antonia Canales. Pérez grabbed another assist in stoppage time when she laid the ball off for Andrea Gómez to drive home. As a result of the defeat, Valencia are left languishing at the foot of the table with a point to their name, while Granada are five points better off in 10th spot.

Eibar 1-2 Athletic Club

Athletic Club scored a late winner to take maximum points against their away meeting with fellow Basque side Eibar. Clara Pinedo sent a fierce shot into the top corner to fire Athletic into an 11th minute lead. However, their slender advantage was cut out in the second half by Arene Altonaga. The 31-year-old curled home her first goal of the season to pull her side onto level terms. However, just as Eibar thought they had done enough to clinch a point, Irene Oguiza netted a dramatic winner to snatch all three for Athletic. The substitute met Nerea Nevado’s free-kick to send her glancing header past the helpless María Miralles.

Sevilla 0-1 Levante Badalona

Levante Badalona required just one goal to take maximum points from Sunday’s trip to Andalucía. Sonia García Majarín scored the game’s decisive goal with less than 15 minutes remaining of regulation time. The ball dropped nicely from a corner, allowing García Majarín to prod home the winning goal. The win moves Badalona onto 13 points, leaving them in fourth spot and three points adrift of Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid.

Barcelona 7-1 Espanyol

For the second league game in a row, Barcelona overturned a narrow half-time deficit to cruise to a comfortable victory. Espanyol’s Simona Botero fired a shot in at the near post to give the visitors a surprise lead. They managed to hold on to their slender advantage until the 59th minute when Ewa Pajor nodded in from Claudia Pina’s deep cross. Alexia Putellas then netted a quickfire brace to turn the game firmly in Barcelona’s favour. Pina and Aitana Bonmatí grabbed a goal apiece, before Pajor drilled home a sixth goal in the 85th minute. There was still time left for Pajor to complete her hat-trick and wrap up an impressive second-half performance.

Real Madrid 1-1 Atlético Madrid

Real Madrid required just seven minutes to break the deadlock in the Madrid derby. A slick move saw Linda Caicedo, Caroline Weir and Signe Bruun all exchange quick passes, before Weir fired through Lola Gallardo’s defences. Real Madrid created and spurned a number of chances to double their advantage, ensuring Atleti remained within touch.

After being put under pressure, Atleti were given a lifeline when the referee pointed to the penalty spot, ruling that Teresa Abelleira had fouled Gabriela García. Bøe Risa kept her composure to slot home her 78th-minute penalty. Gallardo was then forced to make a couple of crucial late stops to finish the game with a total of seven saves. The goalkeeper’s impressive display ultimately helped secure her side a precious point.
