The Reds released a club statement confirming Beard’s exit just a short time ago.
Beard has enjoyed two spells as manager of Liverpool. He delivered back-to-back WSL titles in his first stint in charge before guiding the club to promotion from the Barclays Women’s Championship in his second spell. The Reds have since re-established themselves as a top tier club.
Consistency has been a problem for Liverpool at times this season with injuries taking their toll but the team have enjoyed some bright spells and are within touching distance of the top half of the table.
After Beard’s departure was confirmed, the LFC Women board offered thanks to their manager for his achievements.
A statement read “We have all experienced some fantastic moments with Matt as manager of LFC Women and we express our gratitude for his significant contribution. Our priority was to return this team to where it belongs and we collectively achieved that in 2022 by winning promotion to the WSL.
“We need to build on that momentum and although this has been a difficult decision, we believe it provides us with the best opportunity for future success on the pitch.”
Amber Whiteley has been appointed Liverpool’s interim manager whilst the recruitment process is ongoing.
