Liverpool manager Arne Slot, fresh from his success in the Premier League, is looking for new signings ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Reds have shown this season that they can shine under Slot and the club hierarchy are now ready to back the manager to make changes to his squad and make them even stronger for next season.

The Premier League champions only signed Federico Chiesa last summer but this summer could prove to be a much busier one for them.

The club’s primary target is Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez as there is a growing need of a new left-back at Anfield this summer.

The departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to force the Reds to consider a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.

Liverpool need a new central midfielder

Along with new signings in the defensive positions, the Merseyside club are looking for a new midfielder and they have Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton firmly on their radar.

According to Daily Mail, the Reds are ‘monitoring the situation’ of Wharton this summer but they are not the only club who have their eyes on the young Palace midfielder.

La Liga giants Real Madrid have also been impressed by Wharton’s quality and talent and they join Liverpool in the race to sign him.

Palace reportedly value their No. 20 at around £60 million, a substantial increase from the £22 million they paid to sign him from Blackburn.

Adam Wharton has several admirers

The steep rise in valuation is justified by Wharton’s impressive adaptation to the Premier League, especially his ability to deliver line-breaking passes from the heart of midfield.

Although the Reds have players like Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai in their midfield, they are still looking for a player who can keep possession of the ball and build attacks from the midfield.

Following the impending departure of Alexander-Arnold, Slot is looking for a playmaker who can prove to be creative from deeper positions and Wharton is the player he has identified.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool are willing to match Palace’s asking price but to sign Wharton, they are set to face intense competition with Arsenal interested in him as well.
