Here’s the question on Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle United.

It is all about winning.

Let me explain.

When it comes to Liverpool, Newcastle United and Arsenal, which club have been doing the most of it? Winning football matches, that is.

I have been looking back these last five months or so.

So it isn’t just a sample of a few weeks, a few matches.

Looking at the last 26 domestic matches for each of these three clubs, this is how many of the 26 games that each have won.

Liverpool have won 17 of their last 26 domestic matches in league and cups, Arsenal have won 12, whilst Newcastle United have won…20.

One thing is for sure and that is, the more your football team wins, the more you get used to it.

With another facet of that, is the more you see your team win matches, the tougher the fall is when they lose a game.

I think this was the case with a number of Newcastle United fans after that defeat at Villa.

If Newcastle were winning AND losing or drawing on a regular basis, then I don’t think you would have seen such an over the top reaction to what happened at Villa Park. A day when an in-form opposition side played well, Newcastle helped gift them a goal within seconds of the kick-off, pretty much everything going wrong that could go wrong, including two incredibly cruel deflections that were responsible for two of the four goals.

United though straight back to form with a comfortable victory over Ipswich.

Liverpool and Arsenal have proved to be the best two Premier League teams this season, yet as I say, the last 26 domestic matches for each of the trio, have seen United win three more of their last 26 games than Liverpool, eight more than Arsenal.

Also, in those combined 52 matches, Liverpool and Arsenal have only lost eight between them, three of those eight defeats were against Newcastle United.
