Ruben Loftus-Cheek is confident Milan ‘will start to see better results’ soon under Paulo Fonseca, while he credits ex-Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri as having ‘the most influence in my career.’

The midfielder had a strong start to his time in Italian football, where he now has 10 goals and two assists in 48 competitive appearances.

Currently out injured, he was asked about the difficult Rossoneri campaign to date, where they lost four games, drew two and won three between Serie A and the Champions League.

“I am someone who wants to win every game and sometimes you can’t, so the most important thing is for us to stay united, train properly and I believe we will start to see better results,” Loftus-Cheek told Sport Mediaset.

“The way we work on the training pitch can only improve the way we play in general.”

Milan’s season had been looking up recently with three consecutive Serie A victories, but it fell apart with the 2-1 defeat at Fiorentina on October 6.

Loftus-Cheek missed that game due to a muscular problem.

Looking towards the past, the England international was asked which coach had the biggest impact on him and confidently chose Sarri.

“He is the coach who had the most influence in my career. He came to Chelsea when I was young and he gave the most opportunity to learn.

“He wanted me to be better and I had the most improvement of my career that season with his help and guidance.”

During the 2018-19 campaign, Sarri oversaw Loftus-Cheek score 10 goals and provide five assists in 40 competitive games.

That allowed him and the Blues to win the Europa League that season.
