FC Barcelona gave Valencia a world-class thrashing at the Montjuic Stadium in their most recent game. The Catalan giants were simply unstoppable, and they ran through their opponents like nothing. Beyond just the three points secured by Barcelona, it was also a statement win.
A 7-1 thrashing, Barça gave the home fans a lot to cheer about and celebrate. Goals from Fermin Lopez, Ferran Torres, Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski ensured that it was the Catalan club that stood on top by the end of the final whistle. What a performance from Hansi Flick’s team to mark their return to form in La Liga.
Here are the player ratings for the Barcelona players.
Player Ratings:
Wojciech Szczesny: 6.5
Was decent in his La Liga debut, but was unable to retain his clean sheet. Moreover, he got saved by a foul on Jules Kounde otherwise he ended up conceding yet another penalty as well.
Jules Kounde: 7.0
Solid outing for the Frenchman, who did well to help out his team in distribution. Defensively, however, he was barely asked to do much by the opposition due to Barça’s dominant display.
Eric Garcia: 7.5
With Pau Cubarsi by his side, Eric Garcia was rarely tested by the opposition. However, to his credit, he constantly played the offside trap perfectly alongside his Spanish teammate and he completely threw Valencia off on a lot of occasions.
Pau Cubarsi: 8.5
Simply sensational in both his positioning and his distribution, Pau Cubarsi was a joy to watch. No matter how much Valencia tried to press him or restrict his passing options, he always had the composure and passing ability to cut right through them. His brilliant assist to Fermin Lopez only cemented just how pristine his passing was against Valencia.
Alejandro Balde: 9.0
Almost seemed untouchable whenever he received the ball at his feet, and he continues to make a strong case for being one of the best left-backs in the world right now. His speed is already electric, and he continues to add creativity and goal threat to his game. An assist to Ferran Torres just further highlighted his brilliant performance.
Marc Casado: 7.5
Intense and eager, Marc Casado was perfect for Barcelona in this game. Whenever a ball would come his way, the Spaniard would put his body on the line to ensure that it was his side that retained possession and could turn it into something dangerous.
Frenkie de Jong: 8.5
The Dutchman seems to be well and truly back to his best, and he showcased that perfectly in this game. Inch-perfect first time passes, great awareness and positioning, as well as a brilliant finish to open the scoring, the Barcelona captain was at the top of his game.
Lamine Yamal: 8.5
Seemed to be playing with something to prove, and it worked really well for Barcelona. Lamine Yamal was determined and aggressive, and that applied to both his offensive contributions and his defensive contributions as well. Managed to get a beautiful assist early on as well.
Fermin Lopez: 10
Most people would have to rub their eyes to even comprehend how well Fermin Lopez played today. Simply out of this world. His touches, his passes, his runs, his positioning, his absurdly clinical finishing, everything about the Spaniard was picture perfect. Moreover, beyond just his two brilliantly taken goals and his two sublime assists, he also allowed his Barcelona teammates to play the attractive brand of football that was on display today.
Raphinha: 8.0
Constantly running and providing options to his midfielders to pass to, Raphinha was an unstoppable machine in this game. He was even rewarded for his extensive running with a goal that only further extends his impressive tally this season.
Ferran Torres: 8.5
Chosen by Hansi Flick over Robert Lewandowski for this game, and Ferran Torres did not take long to showcase why. His brilliant finish gave Barcelona their second goal of the game and his running was a constant problem for Valencia to deal with. Even managed to force the opposition to score an own goal later on.
Substitutes:
Robert Lewandowski: 7.0
Came on and got his goal. Was brought on at the right time and he got his piece of the pie as well with a brilliant finish.

Defensively solid, Gerard Martin continues his great run of form. Good performance from the left-back.
Hector Fort: 6.5
Not as impactful as Gerard Martin, but did well enough to hold his ground.
