Manchester United could be the favourites to land Nuno Mendes in the summer as the left-back is said to be eager for a reunion with Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils will be looking to address their left-back issues, either in January or next summer. The club can no longer rely on Luke Shaw amidst his never-ending injury ordeal, while Tyrell Malacia has yet to prove his worth since joining the club, and is currently struggling to retain his fitness following a year on the shelf.

While the club has been linked with several profiles, Mendes remains the ultimate dream for Amorim. The duo had worked together during their time at Sporting CP prior to the young player’s €38m switch to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021.

However, the Portugal international is now facing an uncertain future in the French capital, especially after refusing the club’s attempts to renew his contract which is set to expire in June 2026. This situation could force PSG to sell the full-back next summer to avoid losing him for free a year later.

This significant development is music to the ears of the Man Utd faithful, as the Premier League giants are planning a summer onslaught for the 22-year-old star.

Moreover, FootMercato reveals that Mendes absolutely loved working under the guidance of Amorim when he was still a teenager making his first steps on the senior level. Therefore, the French source claims the left-back is keen to reunite with his old Sporting CP manager.

Hence, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils will be able to pull off this major coup next summer, as Mendes is widely considered one of the finest left-backs in Europe.
