Manchester United are “big fans” of Marcus Thuram but a deal for the Inter Milan forward could prove difficult because of one unusual reason, according to a report.

Thuram, 27, has proven one of the best pieces of business in the transfer market in recent years after I Nerazzurri picked up the French international on a free from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2023.

At the time, United were linked with a move for the forward but an approach never materialised with the Red Devils instead signing Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.

But Thuram has been a roaring success at the San Siro, helping propel his side to a Champions League final this season and the prospect of back-to-back Serie A titles should Inter better Napoli’s result this weekend in the final round of fixtures.

Thuram possesses a unique skillset that combines outstanding physical attributes with the technical ability and positional versatility to play right across the front line. Despite standing at an imposing 6’4, Thuram is also deceptively fast and appears perfectly suited to the physical demands of English football.

The 27-year-old has scored 18 goals and provided nine assists all 47 appearances across all competition this season. Last year, he returned 15 goals and 13 assists in 46 games.

It constitutes a remarkable rate of contributions for Thuram whose impressive physicality enables him to play virtually every game for Simone Inzaghi’s side.

The Sun reports United’s admiration for the Frenchman has not waivered since their previous interest two years ago but a deal could prove unworkable due to the club’s chief executive, Omar Berrada.

The report reveals the Reds are “big fans of Marcus Thuram at Inter Milan but a deal could be tricky as his agent does not get on with Red Devils CEO Omar Berrada.”

Thuram is represented by the agency Sports Cover, founded and owned by Meïssa N’Diaye.

But Berrada – who joined United as chief executive from local rivals Manchester City – has previously run into problems with N’Diaye, who also represented Bejamin Mendy during the fullback’s legal issues while playing for the Citizens, which the Manchester Evening News details further here.

The report by The Sun suggests that this previous confrontation could prevent United from following up their interested in Thuram despite the scouting department giving positive feedback on the French forward.
