Manchester United have travelled to Merseyside ahead of their final-ever outing at Goodison Park.

The Red Devils lock horns with an in-form Everton side, whose fans have been given a new lease of life amid a resurgent run of form since David Moyes re-took the reins in January.

For Ruben Amorim, however, the mood is considerably less cheerful. He is on the back of an eighth Premier League loss as United’s head coach following a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday.

As a result, the 20-time champions dropped to new lows when they rounded off matchweek 25 in 15th place – and could end the weekend in 16th depending on how West Ham fare against Arsenal during today’s 3pm fixtures.

United and the Toffees occupy Saturday’s early kick-off slot, with neither side in action during the week. Remarkably, the Blues – one of last season’s major favourites to fall victim to the dreaded drop – enter the clash as the favourites, highlighting just how dire the situation is for Amorim at present.

In terms of the personnel he’s likely to have at his disposal, the boss is navigating a lengthy list of absentees, with the likes of Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.

Christian Eriksen, Manuel Ugarte and Leny Yoro are all available after missing the last outing, while Kobbie Mainoo and Toby Collyer remain sidelined.

Last night, the United faithful were granted some insight into Amorim’s matchday squad due to the Under-21s playing Chelsea on Friday evening. Ayden Heaven, Elyh Harrison, Sekou Kone and Chido Obi were omitted from Travis Binnion’s side, prompting fans and journalists to assume the young quartet will be involved in some form – even if just on the bench – this afternoon.
