Manchester United’s main priority in the market is to strengthen up front. Rasmus Hojlund is simply not good enough to lead the line for the Red Devils.

He struggled throughout the season and managed a meagre four Premier League goals all season, and his disastrous form has carried onto the post-season Asia Tour where he has been outshone by 17-year-old Chido Obi.

Initially, it seemed like INEOS were pushing to sign Liam Delap as the Dane’s replacement but Chelsea have beaten them to the punch, despite Jason Wilcox’s best efforts.

And now, the co-owners have been forced to consider alternatives and that includes possibly looking at their B list of targets.

Randal Kolo Muani back on United’s radar

As per Givemesport, Randal Kolo Muani of Paris Saint-Germain has once again emerged as a serious transfer target, months after INEOS failed to secure his signing for Ruben Amorim.

The head coach had asked for reinforcements in January but the 20-time English league champions lost out to Juventus, who signed the World Cup runners-up on loan till the summer.

After a disappointing time in the French capital, the “complete” striker has enjoyed a renaissance in Serie A, scoring eight times while registering two assists in all competitions in only 1200 minutes of action.

But Juve are unlikely to hold on to him while PSG do not have space for him in their squad. United feel he still has pedigree but it will depend on whether the Ligue 1 champions are asking for a bumper fee or are open to another loan exit.

“Manchester United are ready to look into the possibility of landing Paris Saint-Germain star Randal Kolo Muani or Crystal Palace fan favourite Jean-Philippe Mateta as head coach Ruben Amorim continues seeking to lure additional firepower to Old Trafford, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

GMS sources have been informed that Manchester United will make checks over whether Kolo Muani would be an ideal fit after they previously looked at recruiting him on a couple of occasions, including in January, but it has been acknowledged that it would take at least £35 million to land him.

Loan deal on the cards

“Although the 26-year-old France international snubbed the opportunity to join the Red Devils midway through the campaign, due to choosing to complete a loan switch to Juventus, the door has been left ajar for Amorim to potentially pounce as the Serie A giants are not on course to open fresh negotiations with PSG in an attempt to agree a permanent deal.

“Manchester United are adamant that Kolo Muani has good pedigree, GMS sources have learned, resulting in them being willing to consider upping the ante in their pursuit if it becomes clear that he is available at the right price or another temporary move would be possible as preparations are made for next season.”

While his time in Paris might have been disappointing, there is no denying Randal Kolo Muani is electric up front, as his final season in Bundesliga in the 22/23 season saw him register 40 goal involvements.

The aforementioned £35 million should also not be a problem while INEOS could prefer to go down the loan route to save money. Additionally, they might prefer a Premier League-proven striker instead.

A lot to figure out for the United hierarchy heading into the summer window.
