Manchester United have rejected a bid in the region of £40m from Napoli for Alejandro Garnacho
Antonio Conte’s side have made Garnacho their number-one target to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who is set to join Paris Saint-Germain imminently. Napoli want to invest the €70m (£59m) fee for Kvaratskhelia in Garnacho but have seen an opening proposal turned down.
According to the BBC, their £40m offer ‘fell significantly below the Red Devils’ valuation’ of the 20-year-old.
Reports emerged earlier this month that Manchester United could consider offers for homegrown talents Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho. Though the club are not actively inviting offers for the pair, sales will be considered in a bid to bring in funds for a rebuild under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
Publicly, Amorim has insisted he wants to keep Mainoo and Garnacho at Old Trafford. The latter has recently returned to favour after being dropped for the Manchester Derby win at Manchester City last month.
“That is clear. He has talent,” Amorim said at his pre-match press conference ahead of the 3-1 win over Southampton on Thursday.
“I think he changed the way he sees himself. He’s finding the best way to play in this system and is improving during training.”
