Manchester United’s tricky financial state has been well documented since the arrival of the INEOS group with the new minority owners on a mission to clear the decks after years of mismanagement from the Glazer family.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s recent claims that the club would have gone bust at the end of the calendar year may have been slightly exaggerated but only served to highlight the dire need for better handling of affairs at Old Trafford.

Funds will need to be raised by any means necessary in order to provide Ruben Amorim with a war chest large enough to make the required additions in the summer to his squad, who have struggled badly this season.

United have confirmed they will be taking part in a post season tour of Asia made of two games against ASEAN All stars in Kuala Lumpur and a Hong Kong, China XI in Hong Kong, respectively.

As reported by The Athletic, United are expected to earn around £8 million for their participation in the matches that will take place almost directly after the conclusion of the Premier League season.

United wrap up their campaign against Aston Villa on Sunday May 26 before travelling to Kuala Lumpur to play on Wednesday 28th, then on to Hong Kong for the game on Friday 30th.

The extra revenue earned is expected to coincide with further redundancies at the club as INEOS continue to trim the fat at Old Trafford.

United CEO Omar Berrada spoke on the confirmation of the post season fixtures and says it will stand the club in good stead in their quest to improve the financial state and results on the pitch.

“Importantly, tour fixtures drive significant additional revenue which help make the club stronger, allowing us to keep investing in success on the pitch,” he said.

They also create unique opportunities for us to collaborate with our valued commercial partners, and to deepen relationships with our fans in regions such as Asia and the US.”

Additionally, it’s reported United are in advanced talks with regards to taking part in the Premier League’s pre-season Summer Series event in the U.S.A which will also provide an extra few pounds in the bank.

Bournemouth, West Ham United and Everton are the other teams in talks to make up the numbers in the tournament which is set to take place across Atlanta, New Jersey and Chicago.

Amorim certainly faces a busy summer period and has continually stressed the importance of this pre season in particular, given there are no international tournaments to hinder his time with the players.

The United head coach will be desperate for INOES to get their business done early to allow him as much time as possible to drill his ideas into his squad before embarking on his first full season at the club.
