Ruben Amorim aims to end a challenging first season at Manchester United with silverware in the Europa League final tonight.
United take on Tottenham Hotspur in an all-Premier League decider in Bilbao. Both sides have endured torrid league seasons but can salvage their campaigns with silverware – and Champions League qualification – tonight.
The Red Devils’ form in the competition has contrasted their league struggles. United are unbeaten in all 14 European games this season, including a convincing semi-final win over Athletic Bilbao.
Spurs are bidding to end a 17-year wait for a major trophy this evening. The North Londoners have not lost to Manchester United since October 2022 and have already beaten the Red Devils three times this season.
Ruben Amorim’s options have been boosted by the return of Diogo Dalot, Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro to training ahead of tonight’s tie. All three have travelled with the squad to Spain, despite being expected to miss out.
In terms of senior names, United remain only without Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez.
Bruno Fernandes is the joint-leading scorer in this season’s competition (7) and another goal tonight will take him outright third in the list of the Europa League’s all-time top scorers. Only Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang (34) and Radamel Falcao (30) have netted more than Fernandes (27) in the competition’s history.
Manchester United predicted XI: Onana; Amad, Mazraoui, Maguire, Yoro, Dorgu; Casemiro, Ugarte; Fernandes, Garnacho, Hojlund.
Tottenham Hotspur take on Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday 21st May 2025. Kick-off in Bilbao is 20:00 BST.
