Mark Lawrenson verdict on Newcastle United with 7 days to go until the end of the season

Mark Lawrenson has been discussing Newcastle United.
Only 7 days to go until the final round of Premier League matches.
The former Liverpool defender speaking ahead of the match at the Emirates.
Newcastle United having played forty six matches in total (all competitions) so far this season.
Twenty nine wins, six draws and eleven defeats.
Now set to face Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
Mark Lawrenson speaking ahead of Arsenal v Newcastle:
“Newcastle will be really up for this game.
“But in the second half at Anfield last week I thought Arsenal were really, really good so they’ve not thrown the towel in on this season yet.
“I’m backing Arsenal to just sneak this one and confirm their second spot in the Premier League for the third year running.
“Prediction: Arsenal 2 Newcastle 1”
I think that in reality, this is a match where any of the three possible outcomes you wouldn’t be surprised at.
Mark Lawrenson may well be proved correct here BUT there is also every reason to believe this could prove not the case.
Arsenal did come back to draw 2-2 with Liverpool but that was a Liverpool with nothing left to play for and who had lost 3-1 to Chelsea in their previous match.
Then whilst Newcastle have eight wins and a draw in their last ten games in all competitions, you have Arsenal who have won only three of their last eleven Premier League matches.
Arsenal got booed off in their last home match when losing to Bournemouth, lost to PSG and drew against both Brentford and Palace in their next three most recent home games.
In their last five matches away from St James’ Park, Newcastle have lost once to a very much in-form Villa, drawn at Brighton, then won the other three, including at Wembley against Liverpool.
If Newcastle United can play to the levels that they have generally played at in the last could of months, then I am confident Eddie Howe’s team can get at least a draw today.
