How things played out when Spurs played Fulham on Sunday afternoon

After a very slow start to the game from both sides, Bentancur had the first effort of any note, heading wide from a corner. A few minutes later, excellent wing play from Tel lead to him playing the ball across, but nobody was there to try and finish it. Usually the sort of opportunity Johnson thrives off.

With ten minutes of the first half remaining, Castagne had a presentable opportunity for the hosts, but he could not beat Vicario with his effort. That was that for the first half. Certainly not one one for the neutrals.

Ange looked to his bench at half time, introducing Son and Bergvall for Johnson and Bissouma.

Early on in the second half, Bentancur had another couple of efforts - meaning all of Spurs' shots in the first 50 minutes came from the Uruguayan midfielder. After 53 minutes, someone else finally had an attempt - as Solanke headed wide.

Midway through the second half, Maddison replaced Romero, with Gray moving back into the defence. He should have an assist immediately, but his ball could only be directed off target by Solanke. Big opportunity.

Spurs would be paid to may, as the hosts took the lead after 78 minutes, with Rodrigo Muniz opening the scoring. Not long before, Tel was replaced by Odobert. Aftter 86 minutes, Scarlett replaced Bentancur.

Then, with two minutes of normal time remaining, Ryan Sessegnon doubled the lead for the hosts. Because of course he did. Obviously. Duh. He had been on the pitch for a minute. So, so, so, so, so, so, so, so Spursy. Even for Spurs' standards that was very Spursy.

That would be that. Keeping it so real, that was such a chore. Every league game is going to be a chore until the end of the season. Now, imagine what the league games will be like if the club are knocked out of the Europa League. Bad enough as it is, never mind with no Europe to cling onto. Thank goodness it is the international break. Think a break is exactly what everyone needs for their own sanity.
