Federico Chiesa ensured he’d receive the medal for Liverpool’s Premier League victory only in the last round, making his fifth domestic appearance, reaching the required quota. His agent, Fali Ramadani, will visit the club in the next few days to test the waters about his future, Calciomercato informs.
The winger played very little this campaign due to a few muscular injuries and a general lack of conditioning and because he never clicked with coach Arne Slot. He has featured in 13 total games across all competitions, scoring and assisting twice.
Liverpool paid just €12M to snap up Chiesa from Juventus since he was about to enter the final year of his contract. The Bianconeri were content to avoid a Bosman departure and shed a significant salary.
The Italian attacker has at least a pair of suitors in Serie A, Napoli and Milan, which are ready to bet on his resurgence. In particular, Rossoneri’s director, Geoffrey Moncada, is a big fan. The Reds had offers in January already but opted to keep him.
He should definitely be on the move again, and a return to the Peninsula, or a transfer to a side coached by an Italian gaffer abroad, would be ideal. While the fee won’t be an obstacle, he makes about €7M, which is an issue for most Italian sides. He’ll probably won’t be in the mood for a pay cut as he’s in the prime of his career. Napoli are more likely to get there than Milan, but they don’t hand out hefty salaries left and right either. Inter would be the frontrunners if they were keen.
