Federico Chiesa has spent more time on the sidelines than on the pitch since joining Liverpool. A few Serie A outfits are lining up to see whether they could get him in January. Inter had frequent contacts with him before he left Juventus, while Milan and Roma are the keenest now, Calciomercato informs.
The winger has made just three appearances since transferring to England. He has missed the last eight matches due to an unspecified injury. Arne Slot had concerning remarks as of late.
“I’m sorry seeing Chiesa involved so little in training. Going in and out of the group is difficult. He didn’t take part in the pre-season preparation, which makes it harder for him to take the necessary step to reach the level of intensity of the rest of the team.”
Liverpool haven’t had the expected returns from their €12M investment so far. On the other hand, the attacker signed a contract until 2028 with €7.5M wages. An immediate exit is unlikely.
Milan and Roma plot to test the waters to see whether they could add Chiesa on loan. His salary is high, but they’d have to cover just half of it since he’d join mid-season. Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are long-time fans, but Inter aren’t expected to do much in January.
The 27-year-old spent 4 seasons in Turin, racking up 32 goals and 23 assists in 131 games.
Liverpool will probably stick it out and assess whether he can be a real contributor once he’s healthy. All three rumored suitors could use him, but he was choosy in the summer. Things would have to be really grim for him to sign off on a simple loan.
