Milan Primavera booked their place in the final of the Coppa Italia Primavera with a narrow 1-0 win over Lecce at the PUMA House of Football.

As a reminder, Federico Guidi’s boys entered the competition in the round of 16, beating Genoa on penalties and Inter then in the quarter-finals, also after penalties. Lecce started in the third round, beating Salernitana (5-0), Venezia (1-0), Roma (1-2) and Sassuolo (3-5 on penalties) to get to the final four.

It was a predictably cagey encounter this afternoon, especially given that the league meetings had been split one each which showed the balance between the two teams. After 45 minutes it was 0-0, despite Filippo Scotti having a one-on-one stopped and Alessandro Longoni making three saves.

In the 68th minute the decisive moment came. A mistake by a Lecce defender saw Scotti seize possession and dribble towards the opponent’s goal, beating Rafaila with a precise right-footed shot that ended up in the corner.

The away side threw everything at Milan in the closing stages but the Rossoneri held firm. The result is that Milan are in the Coppa Italia Primavera final and Guidi’s side will face one of Cagliari and Juventus on April 9th, with that semi-final kicking off this afternoon.
